Valbakken is an old cottage from the early 19th century. Originally the house was situated at Buøya island outside Alstahaug, as a cottage under the Alstahaug parsonage. In 1950 the house was thorn down, and rebuilt at Valbakken in Blomsøy.
The house was renovated in 2002, but the old style has been kept. The house is a two storey building. It has a hall, a bathroom with shower, WC and a washing machine, a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove microwave and freezer, a basement with a 250 liter freezer and a drying cabinet, a living room with TV, and two bedrooms on the second floor. There are 5 beds on the second floor and a sleeping sofa for two in the living room. From June of 2013 there will also be two beds in a new annex. There is a large terrace outside, with good sun conditions.

The house is situated far from nearby houses, with a beautiful view of the sea from almost every window. Private road to the house. The area has a nice terrain for hiking and a local hiking trail of 6 - 7 km not far from the house. Lots of different birds living in the area, and very good fishing!

There are 2 km to gas pumps, and 10 km to the shop.

With ferry and bike/car You can visit sights like The Seven Sisters, Alstahaug Church and the Petter Dass museum at the mainland.
